The Top 5 Summer Jobs in 2019

Summer is fast approaching and for many students is the opportunity to earn some money. Discover the top 5 summer jobs for 2019 and don’t worry, retail jobs are not included!

Festival Work

Festival work can be an excellent alternative for the life-of-the-party people who wish not to work the conventional roles.  Despite its appearance, you will still develop core skills such as team work, customer service and time management. Yes, the days can be exhausting, but the reward is normally free entrance to see your favourite artists.

Au Pair

Tired of being in the UK over the summer? In essence, an Au Pair is someone who is willing to travel to a different country and live with a host family to look after their children.  This cultural exchange is an excellent opportunity to immerse yourself in new experiences, learn a new language and make lifelong friends along the way!

Tutoring

I know this does not exactly scream out summer, but if you are seeking a flexible job over the next few months, then it is worth considering. Not only can you work from home, but you are totally in charge of your working hours too!

Tutoring offers competitive pay and best of all, you are responsible for helping fellow students pass their exams too.

City Tour Guides

If you are fortunate enough to live in a city popular with tourists, why not use your knowledge and apply to be a tour guide throughout the summer! 2018 was the year of heat waves and if the trend continues it will mean you can soak up the sun throughout the months.

TEFL (Teaching English as a Forgein Language)

If you are a native English speaker with an excellent command of the language, then TEFL have a wide variety of positions worldwide. Many of these programmes like JET (The Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme) offer a competitive salary of £25,000 and require a Bachelor’s Degree, but not a teaching qualification! If you wish to escape the UK for the summer and even longer then this is the job for you!

Conclusion

For students, it can be hard to find the motivation to apply for summer jobs, because let’s face it, we would rather spend those days with friends and family. Nonetheless, the pros outweigh the cons. Earn money, grow professionally and gain valuable experience to help land that dream job in the future!
